The story of Christmas begins with a young couple - a man and his pregnant wife in a desperate situation. She is about to give birth and they are temporarily homeless.

This is not their normal situation. Back where they are from, they have a home, but now the best they can find is a cave that is used as a barn.

It is in this spirit that for 2017, the Cobb County Republican Party has chosen to use its annual celebration of the season to benefit the Center for Family Resources (CFR), our Republican Hands organization for the Quarter.

Join us for an evening of fellowship, food, and fun as we get ready for 2018. We will have a silent auction* and door prizes.

Everyone will receive a door prize ticket, but bring in canned goods and other non-perishable items for the CFR to receive additional tickets.

HAVE AN ITEM YOUR OR YOUR BUSINESS WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE AS A DOOR PRIZE or SILENT AUCTION ITEM? Please contact Cynthia Laurens at gma7sews@gmail.com.

Why the CFR?

The primary mission for the  CFR is to move people to self-sufficiency through financial stabilization, housing, and education.  For those who have recently become homeless or are in imminent danger of becoming homeless, the CFR is a lifeline to help them stabilize their economic situation  while the CFR works with them to make sure that they do no get in the situation again.

Our party this year will be at the Mansour Center, which is the headquarters of the CFR. It's where they interview applicants to truly determine their need. It's where they provide GED courses for those who do not have a high school diploma (and the CFR has one of the highest GED pass rates in Georgia). On site they house a food pantry where their clients can get a few essentials when they are moved into their temporary housing, and a daycare center so the parents can find any job and not worry about care for their young children.

*After expenses, all proceeds from the silent auction will go to benefit the CFR.
