Senate District 35 Election

  • Tuesday, November 18, 2025

My name is Josh Tolbert, and I’m running to represent Georgia Senate District 35. I’m a mechanical engineer, small business owner, and father of five, living right here in Smyrna. I’ve spent my career solving tough problems—building power plants, leading engineering teams, and running a consulting firm that helps rebuild after disasters. I’ve seen firsthand how government overreach and inefficiency hold our communities and businesses back, and I’m stepping up to change that.

A Republican hasn’t run for this seat since 2014. For more than a decade, voters have had only one name on the ballot. That lack of competition doesn’t just weaken leadership—it disengages voters. When people stop believing their voice matters, the system stops working as it should. I could sit back and gripe about it, or I could do something about it. I chose to do something.

I’m running to bring accountability, balance, and common sense back to the Gold Dome—fighting for quality education in every ZIP code, better support for teachers, and lower housing costs by stopping corporate takeovers and reforming property taxes and zoning laws. I believe our neighbors are best served not by distant bureaucrats, but by local charities, churches, and small businesses that know their communities.

This race is winnable—but only if we build a strong grassroots team. My campaign is built on data, strategy, and hard work. I have a clear analytical plan for outreach, but I can’t do it alone. I need help from Republicans like you—knocking on doors, writing notes, and making calls to get our message out.
